Lanterns, Music, and New Beginnings at Carol Ann Cross Park |
Fort Smith – Saturday, Oct. 25 | 3 PM – 8 PM |
Carol Ann Cross Park will glow a little brighter this weekend as the community gathers for the Water Lantern Release Festival, a free, family-friendly evening celebrating renewal, reflection, and Fort Smith’s newest park improvements.
The free, family-friendly event runs from 3 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, featuring live music, yoga on the water, guided meditation, spoken-word performances, local artists, unique vendors, and a lineup of food trucks.
As dusk settles, participants will release floating lanterns across the water — each one symbolizing new blessings and letting go of what no longer serves us.
This year’s festival also highlights the park’s recent upgrades, part of Fort Smith’s ongoing investment in public green spaces.
The Parks & Recreation Capital Improvement Plan includes trail extensions, new lighting, and accessibility enhancements at Carol Ann Cross Park, creating a safer and more inclusive environment for families.
City officials marked the improvements with a ribbon cutting earlier this month, calling the park “a model for outdoor connection in the River Valley.”
If you plan to attend, bring a blanket or lawn chairs, and be ready to stroll the refreshed walking trails before sunset.
Lantern kits will be available for purchase on site (city-approved only — outside kits not permitted).
✨ A breathtaking way to embrace the season of change.
